Last week, I had the opportunity to visit one of the towns I love in my country, El Salvador.
Ataco is located in Ahuachapan, a department of El Salvador, and is part of the route known as Ruta de las Flores, which includes many towns like Juayua, Nahuizalco, Apaneca, and the last one, Ataco.
During those days, I visited many places with my family. I discovered new places to visit and revisited the ones I already knew.
I will share photos of these places and provide descriptions so you can get an idea of what to expect when you come to El Salvador and visit Ataco.
When you visit El Salvador, you will notice that you can enjoy breakfast in the mountains, spend your afternoons at our beautiful beaches, and, at the end of the day, relish the city's nightlife, as everything is conveniently close.
Labyrinth of Cafe Albania
Cafe Albania holds the distinction of being the first restaurant to introduce a labyrinth experience along the Ruta de Las Flores, providing visitors with the finest panoramic views of the surrounding area, adorned with lush greenery from the nearby coffee plantations.
For an entrance fee of $3, you gain access to the labyrinth, where you can lose yourself in its winding paths for several delightful minutes before reaching the center, where you can ring the bell to signal your successful navigation. However, this is only the first part of the labyrinth; you must then find your way back out.
If you're seeking even more adventure, you can try the canopy ride, which takes you above the labyrinth, offering additional opportunities to soak in the breathtaking scenery. Following your adventures, you can relish a satisfying meal at the restaurant while enjoying live music.
Cafe Entre Nubes
Cafe Entre Nubes has experienced substantial growth since its inception over five years ago. Notably, they have expanded their offerings to include a coffee brand that has garnered numerous prestigious awards.
Situated adjacent to the Jardin de Celeste along the route from Apaneca to Ataco, Cafe Entre Nubes provides an inviting setting for both lunch and coffee breaks. The café is nestled amidst stunning flowers and offers live music on weekends, enhancing your dining experience. Following your meal, you can leisurely explore the numerous gardens that grace this charming establishment.
Entre Nubes also boasts conference rooms available for rent, making it an ideal venue for business meetings and gatherings. Additionally, they have introduced a mountain path for those seeking a scenic hike, and they recently unveiled a lookout point that provides awe-inspiring vistas of the Ruta de las Flores.
While exploring their gardens, you'll undoubtedly be captivated by the striking Jade Vine, a stunning flower known for its captivating blue-toned colors. This unique plant was acquired from Asia and adds an enchanting touch to the ambiance.
At the end you would be able to make a wish in the fountain and if you don't have coins for it ...
Don't worry you can leave your debit or credit card also. Don't trust me! Look it on your own 😉
Jardin de Celeste, Ataco
Jardin de Celeste came into existence following the opening of Cafe de Eloisa, coinciding with the emergence of the Ruta de las Flores as a prominent tourist destination in the country.
Remarkably, both establishments remain open and continue to provide accommodations, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the tranquil beauty of the mountains during their stay.
The restaurant opens its doors in the morning, making it an ideal spot to start your day with a satisfying breakfast. On weekends, it's particularly popular, as many patrons flock to sample the diverse breakfast options featured on their menu. Some of these options even include a complimentary coffee refill, allowing you to savor the best of El Salvador's coffee culture.
Families with children need not worry, as there's a dedicated Kids Zone where youngsters can have a blast and stay entertained.
What truly sets this place apart is its impressive collection of antique items, which add a touch of nostalgia and transport you to the past. Exploring these vintage treasures is sure to be a unique and captivating experience.
In addition to its dining and recreational amenities, the establishment also offers meeting and conference rooms for those seeking a venue for business gatherings. For those who wish to prolong their stay and fully immerse themselves in the mountainous surroundings, the option to book one of their cozy cabins is available.
Many of these cabins come equipped with a hammock, providing you with a delightful spot to unwind and relish the serene beauty of the mountains. Your experience can be tailored to your preferences, with a range of options to choose from, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Buenos Aires Restaurant and Labyrinth
It's important to clarify that this isn't Buenos Aires, Argentina. Instead, we are talking about the Buenos Aires Restaurant, which is situated in the town of Ataco, El Salvador, just three blocks away from Central Park.
This establishment has recently introduced a captivating labyrinth experience, with an entrance fee of $1. To navigate through it successfully, you must reach the Trebol and then cross the bridge to its conclusion. Along the way, you'll be treated to the sight of beautiful murals adorning the labyrinth's paths.
Furthermore, there's a "Path of Love" that invites you to follow three steps, leading to a memorable experience at the end. For panoramic views of Ataco, you can ascend to a treehouse lookout, providing a vantage point to see the entire town.
Article Update September 17th, 2023:

Town of Ataco, Ahuachapan, El Salvador
Ataco has experienced a surge in popularity, thanks to the proliferation of restaurants, accommodations, and shops that allow visitors to immerse themselves in the town's natural beauty.
During weekends at Central Park, a gastronomic fair unfolds, offering a delightful array of local cuisine. You can savor traditional dishes or opt to dine at one of the restaurants that encircle the park.
